10 Ways to make the most of your time during Monsoons

Every year the monsoons bring with it the need to stay indoors, sipping on an invigorating cup of masala chai served with some hot-hot pakoras. Indeed the monsoon season is the best time for rest and relaxation and for those who choose to stay at home it can be the perfect time to get a lot of pending work done.
We at Sublime House of tea would suggest, to take this time away from the hustle and bustle of the outdoors and spend some quality time with yourself or with family. We give you a few tips on how to make the most of your time during the monsoons especially when going out is not an option:

1. Rain and a steaming Cuppa
There’s nothing like a hot cup of tea on a rainy day paired with some hot samosas. Cuddle into those blankets or sit by the window and enjoy the smell of wet mud and the rustling of the leaves in the wind. You don’t need to go to a spa for an invigorating and blissful experience, just brew a cup of tea and revel in the rhythm of the falling rain.

3. Cook It Yourself (CIY)
If you’re craving a rich chocolate brownie or some hot-hot jalebis, venturing out in the rain can be easily avoided – all you need to do is Cook it yourself! Nothing is more therapeutic than cooking your own meal. It’s even better if you have a friend or a partner to join you.

4. Read a Book
The best way to enjoy a rainy day is to cozy up under the blankets with a cup of tea and a good book. If a book of an intimidating length has scared you then this is the right time to pick it up and read. It’s not short of magical as how the rains can set the mood for any genre of books – Romantic, suspense, adventure, drama etc.

5. Listen to music
There’s something so perfect about listening to music when it’s raining outdoors. It’s amazing how music can create a mood for anything. Tune in to your favourite music channel or sing along to some of your all-time favourite songs. You can even have a fun karaoke session with friends and family!

6. Play a board game
It doesn’t always have to be dull and gloomy when it rains. Gather everyone at home and bring out your favourite board game. Board games are not only a fun activity but it is also time that is well spent with family and friends. Nowadays there are hundreds of board games available for you to choose from and for different age groups too. So brighten up your day with a fun and exciting board game!

7. Catch up with friends
The rains can make it quite hard to travel or meet up with a friend for coffee. So why not just give them a call and catch up on the phone. You can even do a live video chat with a friend or even plan a conference call with many friends in different parts of the world.

8. Write or Draw
The monsoon rains can set the mood for any writer or artist. Whether it’s splashing colours on a canvas or penning your deepest thoughts, staying indoors with sound of rain outside can be the perfect time to explore your artistic side.

9. Meditate
The monsoons are a good time to turn one’s attention within. The soft vibrations from the drizzle of the rain and the aroma of wet mud can create the perfect ambience to meditate and pray. The weather cools down thus making it the perfect season to rejuvenate and strengthen the body and mind.

10. Exercise
Not all workouts these days need an outdoor space, you can practice Yoga, Pilates, Aerobics or Zumba within the four walls of your house. Working out in the comfort of your home got even easier with the hundred tutorials available online. So go ahead and flex those muscles especially when travelling to a gym or taking a run/walk outdoors is impossible due to the rains.
